POSTCARD TYPES : Colour Tinted

Usually refers to real photographic or printed postcards where colour is
added after the printing process.


A painstaking technique of adding colour ink to the picture, this was undertaken by cheap labour (often young girls) who would repetitively add the same colour patches to the image before passing to the next worker for additional colour(s).

Japanese Colour Tinted
Hand tinting of collotype cards was used extensively in Japanese produced postcards of the far east.
